The awards organized by the West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards (WAHEA) provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of the healthcare sector while recognizing the key functions within the industry that promote standards and excellent stewardship.
Unequivocally, this award reinforces PRG’s commitment and tradition to championing sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing of quality, affordable and accessible pharmaceutical products under ISO 9001:2015 certification since 2003.

Phyto-Riker (GIHOC) Pharmaceuticals (PRG) Joins the Pharmacy Technicians Association of Ghana (PTAG) for Their 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM), 2019.
On the 27th to the 30th of August 2019, Phyto-Riker (GIHOC) Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a leading pharmaceutical company in Ghana joined the Pharmacy Technicians Association of Ghana (PTAG) for their 9th AGM conference. It came off at the Takoradi Library, Western Region. The Theme for the conference was ‘Promoting Sustainable Pharmaceutical Industrialization, The Role of Pharmacy Technicians.’
According to the chairman of PTAG, PharmTech Prince Boateng, Sustainable Pharmaceutical Industrialization in Ghana means having pharmaceutical companies who can produce quality, affordable yet accessible pharmaceutical products that can compete around the globe.
Unequivocally, this deed has been demonstrated by Phyto-Riker’s tradition and commitment to championing sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing of quality, affordable and accessible pharmaceutical products under ISO 2001 certification since 2003. This milestone recently earned PRG, The Ghana Pharmaceutical manufacturing Company of the year, 2019, by the Ghana Manufacturing awards and Excellence in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) by the Ghana Pharma Awards, 2019.
PRG supported this year’s conference and its concomitant activities which included an impactful health outreach at Aboaze because PRG acknowledges the critical role the Pharmacist Technicians Association of Ghana play in the Healthcare Delivery system in the country.
PRG also mounted an exhibition stand where great interactions and feedback with the healthcare professionals. Key among the brands showcased was two newly introduced products, RIKER-ON (Tadalafil) 20MG Tablet and the range of ARTRIFAN (Artemether/Lumefantrine) Tablets.

The Theme for this year’s AGM was ‘PHARMACY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD.’ The Guest of Honor was the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
Phyto-Riker Commemorates World Malaria Day With Ghana Malaria Control Program
According to the latest World malaria report, released in November 2018 by WHO, there were 219 million cases of malaria in 2017, up from 217 million cases in 2016. The estimated number of malaria deaths stood at 435 000 in 2017, a similar number to the previous year.
Phyto-Riker (GIHOC) Pharmaceuticals Ltd recognizes the important role a pharmaceutical company plays in the global fight against malaria. In conjunction with Ghana Malaria Control Program and World Malaria Day – under the theme, “Zero Malaria Starts with Me” - on April 25 2019, Phyto-Riker commemorated the work being done not only by governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), but by its own employees to combat the disease and produce affordable medicines for more effective treatment. The event, engineered by the Ghana Malaria Control Program came off at the Somanya-Akutunya Lorry Station Yilo Krobo Municipal, Eastern Region. The firm donated anti-malarial medicines to the district to support the health screening activities and efforts to combat the disease.

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) annual general meeting came off at Koforidua, Capital View Hotel from the 6th - 10th of November 2018. This year marked the 60th anniversary of GMA and the celebration was on the theme: “The Role of GMA in Healthcare: 60 Years On.”
The anniversary attracted several dignitaries including; The Vice President, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, the Minister of Health, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, a Former Minister for Defence, Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) among other health professional Association.
To mark the 60th anniversary, a medical outreach came off at the Ho West District of the Volta Region. More than 1000 people in the district were screened. The beneficiaries included the aged, many of whom were transported from neighboring farming communities to the District capital for the medical screening.
Phyto-Riker Pharmaceuticals, a major player in the healthcare delivery landscape in the country, with a tradition of churning quality and affordable medicines was also present at the anniversary. The firm supported GMA in the form of donation of medicines to help embark on their medical outreach. This gesture impacted many lives in the rural areas.
Over 200 prescribers and healthcare professionals visited Phyto-Riker’s exhibition stand to familiarize themselves with the wide spectrum of quality medicines. At the stand, the marketing team took time to detail and expatiate on the various innovative and generic medicines of the firm. They also got away with samples and souvenirs which will help accentuate the experience of these prescribers with the company’s brands.
